I came to the hospital today expecting another quiet day. Thane and I spent a good part of yesterday afternoon enjoying the fact that none of Evelyn’s alarms were going off.
Of course, the quiet only lasted a few days, and today, Evelyn is desatting to the 30s and 40s. They’re trying to not knee-jerk react to her episodes by automatically giving her more sedation. They’re doing a blood transfusion right now, to hopefully increase her hemoglobin (13.5 now), which should help her oxygen saturation to increase. Lots of coughing and secretions, so her sats jump up when she’s suctioned and then fall back down.
Prayers appreciated. It’s not fun to see those numbers.
This morning has reminded me why we have Brooke with a friend. Things can change so quickly here.
